Overcoming Anxiety / Panic
Panic and anxiety are a part of a natural reaction to a perceived threat. Part of the 'fight or flight' response. Most people are aware of a degree of unease at the prospect of a negative or even exciting future event or when experiencing troubling situations. The problem occurs when a person becomes hypersensitve to small, everyday occurances, seriously affecting their quality of life.
As an estimate, anxiety and panic disorders affect more than 2 million people in the UK. The individual may know what triggers the panic or anxiety (as with phobias) or it may be out of their conscious awareness: (such as an oversensitivity to heart rates, blushing or other normal bodily sensations). Hypnotherapy and NLP are able to re-educate the unconscious mind in a variety of different ways. To help the unconscious to recognise situations and sensations to be as safe as they really are or train the unconscious mind to not notice' the trigger.

Eliminate Phobias
Phobias are extremely common - as many as 1 in 10 people are likely to be affected by a phobia at some occasion in their life. Phobias can take many forms and almost and situation, object or place can trigger a phobic response. Common phobias include:
Heights
Injections
Flying
Dentists
Claustraphobia (enclosed spaces)
Agarophobia (open spaces / or more commonly - fear of crowds or places outside of the home or routine)
Balloons
Water
Thunderstorms
Animals (e.g. Spiders, Wasps/Bees, Fish, Dogs, Birds, Snakes)
Public speaking and other social situations
Of course it's useful to to retain the ability to feel fear as it acts as a protective device, keeping us away from danger. It is when this fear outweighs the threat itself that it crosses the line into becoming a phobia and having an unecessarily negative effect of the individual, limiting their quality of life. Phobias are often surprisingly quick and easy to deal with effectively.

Weight Loss / Management
Do you struggle with your weight? Have you tried numerous diets and sometimes ended up heavier than when you started? Maybe you think you'd like yourself more if only you were thinner.
There are many reasons why we eat, and lots of them have nothing to do with hunger. We are programmed from an early age to belief that food is capable of making us feel happier, comforted or many other emotional states. Even the doctor used to give out lollipops to reward you for being good. Or maybe you were always encouraged to finish every mouthful as there were children starving in Africa. The intention behind these actions is usually well-meaning, but is often misinterpreted by our young minds and leads us to believe that food will satisfy us emotionally as well as physically.
Some people find it easy to eat healthily, but don't have the motivation to exercise. Sometimes this is as a result of bad experiences at school, which your unconscious mind doesn't want to repeat.
Cognitive Hypnotherapy and NLP identify the programming that has affected your attitude towards food and excercise and you to take conscious control, enabling you to lose weight permanently.
Hypnotherapy and NLP can also be used in the treatment of Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Binge Eating Syndrome.

SlimQuest
SlimQuest is a 6 week course specially designed to help you change the way you think about food and exercise. Groups are small (8-10 people) and a 6 week course costs £120. CDs are available at a small additional cost.
You will not be told what or what not to eat - you already know that really don't you? We'll be enabling you to choose those food options you know will give you the results you dream of - and stick to them.
SlimQuest uses a combination of NLP techniques and group hypnosis to help you to free yourself from dieting and get on with living your life.

Eating Disorders
Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Binge Eating Syndrome are behavioural problems which have a destructive effect on the sufferer and those around them. Untreated they can result in extreme ill health and even death. At the root of these disorders is often a severe lack of self-esteem as well as a distorted and/or negative body image.
Cognitive Hypnotherapy and NLP are an ideal tool for dealing with these issues as they work at a deeper level of consciousness, helping the individual to develop a greater understanding of their own mind and why their brain causes them to behave in this destructive way. Rather than attempting too quickly to change behaviours, which the individual believes are necessary, we gradually build on feelings of self worth until the client can decide on small changes to their patterns of eating and associated behaviours at a rate with which they feel they can cope.

Many destructive habits are difficult to overcome because we are not always consciously aware of when we are doing them. For example, many people bite their nails when they are watching TV or worrying about an upcoming event. Their unconscious mind is still able to operate long practiced behaviours without our needing to be aware of it. NLP and Hypnotherapy allow you to take conscious control of these behaviours, in many cases in as little as one or two sessions

Overcome Trauma
Trauma can have a significant impact on your life, sometimes causing you to feel anxious or depressed. You may have trouble sleeping or suffer with flashbacks of the event or events. Even individuals who deal with traumatic incidents in a professional capacity are likely to be influenced by something they experience at some time in their working life.
Using NLP, EFT and Hypnosis, it is possible to change the way the brain processes these memories and allow them to be safely stored away. As well as dealing with recent experiences, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can be overcome even if it has been ongoing for many years.

Confident Childbirth
Hypnosis can benefit both mother and baby in many ways. In the weeks leading up to birth, in addition to the labour itself and even after the baby is born. It has been observed that woment who use hypnosis for childbirth , have fewer complications, require less medication and have a greater likelehood of delivering healthier babies. There is also a reduction of stress and anxiety in the lead up to the birth.
Hypnosis is a relaxing experience which allows you to begin bonding with your baby before birth. You can also use it to create a practice run for your ideal birth.
Hypnosis is also a pleasant way of learning to distance yourself from any discomfort during labour, allowing you to more fully enjoy the experience of birth.
Much of the fear associated with birth causes tension, and tension heightens pain. Women who use hypnosis are far more relaxed and calm during labour, making for a much more relaxed birth experience. After a hypnotic birth women often feel less physically and mentally exhausted, their babies also benefit from the experience and tend to sleep and feed better, cry less and be calmer and more relaxed too. In fact, studies have shown babies born to mothers who practiced hypnosis have higher APGAR scores!
Practising hypnosis can provide you with a sense of control even in unexpected situations, allowing you get the most out of your pregnancy and birth experience.

Stop Smoking
Whether you have tried giving up smoking before now using either nicorette patches, special gum or just willpower, maybe you found that when life got stressful you went back to your old crutch. With the best will in the world, it can be very hard to stop doing something which your unconscious mind believes still serves a positive purpose, no matter that consciously you know it does you harm. The unconscious mind is ultimately responsible for your safekeeping and it's the beliefs held at this level that are the most powerful. Reports have recently shown that hypnosis is one of the most effective ways of giving up smoking. The combination of hypnosis and NLP is even more effective as it re-programs your unconscious mind to assist you in achieving your goal.
Unlike many standard programs available, I work on your individual relationship with cigarettes and your motivations for quitting, in order to design a program specifically for you. In most instances you need only two or three sessions in total.

Improve Self Esteem / Confidence
Do you feel that you worry about what others think too much and this holds you back from doing things that you might enjoy? Low self esteem and a general lack of confidence are at the root of many issues and have such a pervasive effect on peoples lives.
After each experience we have in life, whether it is something that happens to us, or something we are told or not told, our unconscious mind evaluates the event and sometimes the meaning we give to it is negative, leaving us with a belief that we are 'not good enough' or 'not loved/lovable'.
Hypnotherapy and NLP are both extremely effective tools for helping people to change the way they see themselves and allowing them to interact with others more confidently.
